NEW FORMAT
The information on this page is now being presented through a direct link to the Virtual Stamp Club's 2008 U S Stamps web page. The link is http://www.virtualstampclub.com/2008usnew.html.
The information will be much more timely, in that it will not await my effort to periodically log into their web site, load the information onto this web page, edit and format both text and graphic images. This will also reduce disk space requirements, both on my computer and against our web site's limitation -- graphics are especially space-demanding.
Here's how it will work: Only two items of information are included in this list of USPS™ issues: the name of the issue, and the date of issue. The list will be sequence alphabetically by issue name. Scroll down the list and find the issue name that you are seeking information on, and note the issue date. To simplify your search for the issue name, some items are listed more than once -- for example, Frank Sinatra appears where "Frank" would appear, and again where "Sinatra" would appear.
Then, click on the link to Virtual's web page. In order to avoid your having to scroll back to the top of the page to get to that link, I will include it after every 10 or 12 items.
If you scroll down Virtual's page, you will see that there are four columns.
The first column contains the Issue Date -- in chronological sequence. Scroll down until you find the date that you are looking for.
The second column contains two items: the issue name and "Discuss". If you click on the issue name, a graphic image of the item appears. Click on that to get A REALLY BIG image. If you click on the word "Discuss" you will get descriptive information about the item. You can also click on "Reply" to add your own comments.
The third column contains Servicing Details -- generally the city and zip for the First Day of Issue. If you click on "Servicing Details" you will get an image of the First Day cancellation and the address of the Postmaster in the First Day city.
The fourth column contains USPS™ Order Numbers and Scott™ Catalogue Numbers. Click on either link to display the information for the issue.
Bear in mind that the schedule (including issue dates) is tentative and incomplete, and much information will be added and updated as the year progresses. I will try to update the issue dates on this page in a timely manner.
